My youngest son is turning 19 and has pdd.He is a great kid. When he wants to he can be loving and caring. That happens rarely, but when it does its wonderful. He started college in sept and all of a sudden he was making friends.I was thrilled. In febuary the unthinkable happened. He was charged with stalking a girl he went to high school with. She was a great friend to him and his go to person when he had problems at home. The campus they go to is small and she is saying that because he and a friend were waiting outside her class for two other friends he was stalking her.She had him kicked out of the school so she can attend and now there is also a criminalcase. My son went from a happy college student to a depressed young man.he stays in his room all day.He is regressing again.I dont know what to do.We have a great lawyer for the criminal caase, but the school thing is killing him.He misses his friends and the school. He wasnt a great student, but the social part of it was great. On top of that my husband and i are getting a divorce and im moving out of state. He choose to stay with his dad,but as a mother i feel im deserting him.I have been his only advocate until now.Any advice would be helpful.

You should contact the office of Protection and Advocacy in your area which is usually listed in the State information. He needs someone who can help the court system understand his disability and help him understand his rights. They would also have resources for him in terms of peer support/professionals who understand the disability and advocacy.

Please reconsider moving to another state and leaving your son, when it sounds like he is very depressed. You say that you are his only advocate. He needs you now more than anything. If you leave, you may regret this decision the rest of your life.
